UX Engineer | Monoline.
I'm a UX Engineer at Monoline, the modern quoting and binding platform for standalone personal umbrella insurance. My work spans product UX, migrating the design system from v1 to v2, and the internal tools underwriting and operations run on.

Scope
Design system v1 → v2, product UX, and internal tools for underwriting and ops
Stack
Ruby on Rails, Tailwind, Figma, Lookbook, Claude Code
Role
UX Engineer
Outcome
First major feature shipped; second underway
Context
An initial design system (v1) already existed when I joined, living inside one of the product repos. I audited styling, components, and drift across the company's core repos, then began extracting v1 into its own repo to serve as the baseline for v2, which I'm rolling out consistently across the product. That work includes establishing shared design patterns, plus setting up a new Figma library and Lookbook for component documentation.
Building the practice
Alongside the design system work, I'm establishing the UX practices, usability testing, design critiques, and lightweight research, that will scale with the team as it grows.
What I own
The scope spans customer-facing product, internal tooling, and the design system migration that connects them, implemented directly alongside engineering rather than handed off.
End-to-end product UX
Owning the user experience across Monoline's product suite: research, workflow mapping, wireframes, prototypes, and production interfaces.
Design system: v1 to v2
Audited styling, components, and drift across the company's core repos, then began extracting the existing v1 design system out of the repo it was embedded in and into its own, establishing shared design patterns as the baseline for v2 as it rolls out company-wide.
Internal tools for underwriting and ops
Designing and building the internal tools underwriters, operations, and support teams rely on daily, with a focus on reducing friction and preventing costly errors.
Design-engineering partnership
Partnering with engineering on interaction patterns, information architecture, and visual design, then building the production code myself using a workflow that connects Figma and Claude Code through MCP.
Where it stands
I've shipped my first major feature and am underway on my second. In parallel, the repo audit is done and the v1-to-v2 design system migration is in motion, with the new Figma library and Lookbook setup still in progress.
What's ahead
A fuller write-up with specifics on shipped work is on the way as the platform matures.
