Software Engineer | Family Proud.

Software Engineer at Family Proud, a veteran-founded health-tech startup building a care management platform for families coordinating support around loved ones facing medical challenges. I built the marketing site, a custom storefront for the desktop app using Shopify APIs, and applied WCAG standards to the UI I shipped.

Software Engineer

Outcome

Production marketing site and storefront

Context

Family Proud helps families manage care for loved ones navigating serious medical challenges. As an early-stage startup, the team needed a public-facing storefront and marketing site that could launch quickly while still meeting the accessibility and regulatory bar that health-tech demands.

I joined as a Software Engineer to own those surfaces end to end: from wireframes with stakeholders through Shopify integration, production launch, and WCAG-aware UI on what I built.

Why this mattered

Families using a care platform need UI that works for everyone, including people using assistive technology. Accessibility was a product requirement and a compliance requirement, not a nice-to-have audit at the end.

What I built

The work covered commerce, marketing, and accessible UI on the surfaces I owned, working on a small team with direct stakeholder access.

Custom storefront

Built a custom storefront using Shopify APIs, working with stakeholders from wireframes through production launch so the storefront reflected the product and brand, not an off-the-shelf theme.

Marketing site

Shipped the marketing site alongside the storefront, coordinating content, layout, and launch timing with the team from early concepts to go-live.

Accessible UI

Applied WCAG standards to the marketing site and storefront I built, treating accessibility as a default constraint in health-tech rather than a late-stage audit.

Stakeholder collaboration

Partnered with founders and product stakeholders through wireframes, reviews, and launch, translating business requirements into production-ready UI on a small early-stage team.

Outcome

Launched the marketing site and custom Shopify storefront from wireframes to production, with WCAG standards applied to what shipped, appropriate for a health-tech product serving families in sensitive circumstances.

What I took forward

Family Proud was early practice in owning the full arc on a small team: stakeholder conversations, implementation, launch, and accessibility as a default constraint. That shape of work is still how I approach design systems and product UI today.
